Wild Highland Berry

Wild Highland Berry

£14.95Price

Sophisticated and floral – an uplifting fresh scent of wild mountain black raspberries and juniper with a hint of peppercorn and cherry.

The blackberry is an iconic fruit widely cultivated in Scotland. However Juniper, once widely used as a seasoning in spirits and jellies, is now considered to be one of the rarest plants in the country. Throughout the summer and into the early autumn, wild black raspberry and juniper fruits can be found thriving amongst the pine and birch woodlands of Glen Tilt.

The Glen connects Blair Atholl in the south, to Braemar and Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside to the north.  During her stay at Blair Castle in 1844, Queen Victoria granted the Duke, and the 200 Men of Atholl who had protected her, the Queen’s Colours, at once founding the Atholl Highlanders as a continuing private army regiment.

Their distinctive tartan features colours inspired by the local landscape with dark hues of green, red and purple and the soldiers don the Juniper plant, the clan plant of the Murray Clan in their Glengarries.
